National anthem of Latvia ("God, bless Latvia!")
The Latvian national anthem originates from the period of national awakening in the second half of the 19th century.
The melody and lyrics are from Kārlis Baumanis, who wrote the hymn in 1872, which was only officially recognized in 1920. He was also the first composer to use the hitherto new term "Latvija" (Latvia) in a work.
